Uses

This compound is used as a food preservative and antioxidant for foods (margarine, peanut butter, etc.), cosmetic and pharmaceutic creams, fats, oils, flavorings, ethers, emulsions, waxes and transformer oils. It is used as a packaging material. It is also used to inhibit autooxidation of paraldehyde and similar substances which develop peroxides in the presence of oxygen.
